How to Use Baby Hippy Laerdal

  • Place the model in a stable position on a hard, level surface.
  • Gently stabilise the pelvis using one hand.
  • Perform Barlow's maneuver on the right hip by adducting the hip and applying gentle posterior pressure to feel instability.
  • Perform an Ortolani maneuver on the left hip (abduction/raising of the hip to detect the “clunk” of reduction).
  • Keep doing this until you no longer have to consider the haptic feel.
