Sitting directly on vinyl often contributes to added moisture, higher temperatures, and increased shear forces, all of which contribute to the formation of pressure sores. Skil-Care Universal Cushion Covers were introduced to minimize the necessity of multiple covers. They are manufactured from launderable fabrics that allow them to fit a wide selection of cushions and are available in synthetic sheepskin, low shear I, and low shear II fabrics. All models come with sewn-in straps to mount the cushion to the wheelchair. Universal Cushion Covers may also be used with some geri-chair cushion models.
