The 08300-U is a 3.5 V halogen lamp intended for use in spot retinoscopes (Welch Allyn “Spot” models, e.g. 183XX).

It is marketed as a Halogen HPX replacement lamp for spot retinoscope applications.

The lamp provides a bright, focused “spot” illumination (as opposed to a streak) to help with ophthalmoscopic evaluation of the retina.
